The Krishi Vigyan Kendra Mokokchung was sanctioned in the year 2003 and set up with 57.4 acres of land at Yisemyong, adjacent to State Agroiculture Research Station( SARS) under the Department of Agriculture, Govt. of Nagaland. The host Institute is the Directorate of Agriculture, Govt. of Nagaland. The actual activities started functioning from the month of May 2006 after the appointment of multidisciplinary team in six discipline viz. Agronomy, Plant Protection (Entomology), Horticulture, Genetics & Plant Breeding, Vety & Animal Husbandary and Extension. The station was officially inaugurated by Dr. C.D. Mayee Chairman Agricultural Scientists’ Recruitment Board ICAR New Delhi on 26th July 2006. The foundation stone for the Administrative Building was laid by Shri Neiphiu Rio Hon’ble Chief Minister of Nagaland on 25th Sept 2007.
The key mandated activities of KVK is to tests and assess/refine various technologies both on station and off station(OFT), to demonstrate and popularize proven technologies through Front-Line demonstration(FLD), imparts training on the latest advances in agriculture and allied sectors. It also focuses on extension activities, innovative and workable technologies to materials, which have immediate application in the farmer’s field and plan future strategies for all round development and boost production and productivity.
